Boldly Speaking About Love

Just because a picture that is light hearted and fun because this post really isn't!

Today I remember saying to a friend this has been the longest week ever! If this were really the case I would have a sparkly clean house and not be tired at all.. So I guess all in all every week moves so quickly these days, reminding me of how short life is. After having my son my whole outlook on love changed... I believe love exists in so many forms but I know it exists between a mother and a child... I am living this love. I am so incredibly humbled by the fact that I am blessed enough to be a mom...

I remember Tyler being a baby I can see it all in my brain like a picture flip book... I also remember we counted his life in weeks and months and suddenly after age 2 it became years... Does this really stretch it out any ... Not at all the days and the nights fly by, even if you count them in years.

I tell my son multiple times per day for no reason at random "I love you" and each time he responds "I love you too". This makes my heart beam with joy. Will it last in the teen years who knows but I am certain that he will always know I love him because I speak it boldly and often.

I find that lately my optimism seems shattered, not at my life it is fine ...not perfect but fine. I am sad for the world around me and as we live out history like war, poverty and protests I am certain that young people of every generation before me have felt shattered too. I feel like our generation needs to make it happen and make life better, solve problems, make a better life for our kids and yet it seems each day the only thing that gets better is the next new thing in technology.

How can we put all of the intelligence behind the technology to work solving real problems... How can we speak love boldly...

The following song lyrics are from a Garth Brooks Song "We Shall Be Free" and until recently hearing it on TV I forgot how much I believe in these lyrics.

This ain't comin' from no prophet

Just an ordinary man

When I close my eyes I see

The way this world shall be

When we all walk hand in hand

When the last child cries for a crust of bread

When the last man dies for just words that he said

When there's shelter over the poorest head

We shall be free

When the last thing we notice is the color of skin

And the first thing we look for is the beauty within

When the skies and the oceans are clean again

Then we shall be free

We shall be free

We shall be free

Stand straight, walk proud

'Cause we shall be free

When we're free to love anyone we choose

When this world's big enough for all different views

When we all can worship from our own kind of pew

Then we shall be free

We shall be free

We shall be free

Have a little faith

Hold out

'Cause we shall be free

And when money talks for the very last time

And nobody walks a step behind

When there's only one race and that's mankind

Then we shall be free

We shall be free

We shall be free

Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out

We shall be free

We shall be free

We shall be free

Stand straight, have a little faith

We shall be free

I had forgotten about that Garth song, too. Great choice to go with your post.

Your post touched some really deep thoughts. Like how you preceded it with the lighthearted picture! I think moms who tell their sons how much they love them at random times on a regular basis, make this world a better place.
